Student Art Contest

The Springfield Old Capitol Art Fair (SOCAF) Board, with the assistance of have completed their judging of the 2025 SOCAF Student Poster Contest. All judging was performed with personal identifying information removed (no student names, grades, schools, or teachers) to limit potential unconscious biases.
On behalf of the SOCAF Board, we are happy to announce the winners of the Student Poster Contest for 2025

  • Poster Contest Winners:

    • 1st Place – Melanie Weidiger  – Athens High School, Teacher Chuck Walbert
    • 2nd Place – James Strode, Senior, Rochester High School
    • 3rd Place – Emma Pomeroy , Senior, Glenwood High School
    • Honorable Mention 12th Grade – Samantha Bandy, Rochester High School
    • Honorable Mention 9th-11th Grade – Makayla Kraus, Rochester High School
    • Honorable Mention 6th-8th Grade – Ella Westlake, Williamsville Junior High School

Student Art Contest Winners Announced!

The winning artwork will be featured on the official Springfield Old Capitol Art Fair (SOCAF) poster and may be used on billboards throughout Springfield.

  • 1st Place: Patrick Rearden, “Portrait of Eva” – Springfield High School Grade 12
  • 2nd Place: Haley Mlinar, “Prairie Girl ” – New Berlin High School Grade 11
  • 3rd Place: Melody Miller, “Closeted” – Glenwood High School Grade 10 
  • 6-8th Grade Honorable Mention: Reese Reavis, “Love in Bloom ” –  St.Aloysius Grade 7
  • 9-11th Grade Honorable Mention: Ellie Krehbiel, “Frog” –  Springfield High School Grade 11                     
  • 12th Grade Honorable Mention: Carleigh Warcup, “Acoustic”  –  Glenwood High School Grade 12
